Juicy Lucy Burgers ~
The iconic cheese-stuffed burger made with all plant-based ingredients!
Perfect for Father’s Day weekend, 4th of July cookouts, or anytime you want to indulge in an American classic!
A Juicy Lucy burger is made by taking a thin burger patty then adding cheese and topping it with a second burger patty and sealing in the cheese.
Then, as the burger cooks, the cheese melts giving the burger an ooey gooey, molten lava center.
And just like that, you have a Juicy Lucy. It’s that simple!
Purists will tell you that a true Juicy Lucy does not include such things as lettuce, condiments, or toppings of any kind.
They will also tell you that the only acceptable cheese is American-style.
I say live your life.
Whether you decide to keep it traditional or dress it up with your favorite vegan cheeses and toppings is up to you.
Either way, you’re going to love this burger!
Table of Contents
Ingredients for Juicy Lucy Burgers
- 24 ounces vegan ground beef – I used Impossible Foods brand.
- 1 tablespoon vegan Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 8 slices vegan American-style cheese slices
- 4 burger buns
How to Make Juicy Lucy Burgers
STEP ONE: Into a large bowl, mix together the vegan ground beef, vegan Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and ground black pepper. Divide the mixture into four portions, then again into eight. Roll each portion into a ball then shape into thin patties.
STEP TWO: Arrange patties onto a flat work surface. Top each with two slices of cheese, tearing the cheese as needed so that it fits onto the patty with no overhang. Cover with a second patty and shape the meat around the cheese so that it is fully enclosed. Season both sides of the patties with salt and pepper.
STEP THREE: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium high heat. Add the patties and cook about 4 minutes on each side, or until internal temperature reaches160 degrees F.
STEP FOUR: Sandwich the patties between burger buns and serve.
