NuFace Mini vs Trinity Features Review

The following NuFace review is broken down into smaller sections covering the key features to consider when choosing between Nuface Mini vs Trinity. For example, some of the features include attachments, design, size, modes, battery life, charging time, price, app, and few others.

Attachments:

One of the major differences when comparing NuFace Mini vs Trinity is attachment compatibility. That is to say, Mini device is a compact microcurrent that has the same microcurrent technology as Trinity, but it is NOT compatible with other attachments. In short, Nuface Mini is just a microcurrent facial device.

On the other hand, the main advantage of NuFace Trinity is that it’s designed with interchangeable treatment attachments that go beyond microcurrent therapy. Here is short description of the attachments:

  • Facial Trainer attachment (spheres) is the basic one and is included with the purchase of NuFace Trinity device. This attachment is used for treating large skin areas.
  • Trinity ELE is a microcurrent attachment that is designed for treating smaller and hard to reach areas. ELE includes skinny dual wands that are mainly used on lip and eye areas like smile lines, crow’s feet, and eyebrow furrows.
  • Trinity Wrinkle Reducer is an LED wrinkle attachment that has 36 mini lights and acts as a red light therapy device. It does not produce a microcurrent, but instead delivers a combination of red, amber and infrared lights that target fine lines and wrinkles. (*Keep in mind, that 4 infrared LEDs are not visible to the naked eye when illuminated.)

To clarify, the attachments can be used ONLY with Trinity device, and are sold separately for $149 or as part of few different NuFace Trinity value kits available on Amazon, Lovelyskin, or Nordstrom.

Design. Even though both devices have almost identical design, they differ in size, weight, and few features. For example, Nuface Mini is smaller in size (4.2 inches long) and weights about 4.6 oz. On the other hand, NuFace Trinity facial tool is larger in size (5.5 inches long) and weights about 6.4 oz. Also, Trinity has two intensity control buttons, which are labeled as “-“ and “+”, and Mini doesn’t have those.

Intensity/Modes. While both NuFace devices have the same strength of electric current (maximum of 335 microamperes), they differ in the number of microcurrent intensity levels. For example, Mini comes with 3 levels of intensity (minimum, medium, maximum), which allow you to control the strength of your microcurrent treatment. However, Trinity offers 5 levels of intensity levels for a more customizable facial stimulation treatment.

Timer. Both microcurrents have a build-in 5-second timer that beeps every 5 seconds signaling to move on to another section.

Automatic turn off. Another difference when comparing Nuface Mini vs Trinity is automatic turn off safety feature. That being said, Mini shuts off automatically after 5 min, while Trinity shuts off after 20 min.

Other things to consider:

Battery life. On average, the battery life is about the same and depends mainly on the length of the treatment and how often the device is being used. Overall, with regular use of 3-5 sessions per week a fully charged battery will last for about a week.

Charging time. It takes 12 hours to fully charge NuFace Trinity, and 16 hours for Mini. Just a side not, NuFace devices will not operate while charging, so plan your treatments ahead of time.

NuFace App. Both toning devices can be used (but not required) with free NuFace app. However, the app is only compatible with iPhone and iPad, and there is no Android option. Overall, the app is a great way to learn more about this facial toning device, watch “how to” videos, and follow step-by-step guided treatments like Basic 5 min Face-lift cycle, Advanced 15-min Face-lift cycle, and others.

Price. Another major difference when comparing NuFace Mini vs Trinity is the price. The Mini costs $199 since it’s smaller, while Trinity device is $325 and additional attachments can be purchased for extra cost.

What’s included. Both devices come with one Hydrating leave-on gel primer (2 fl.oz.), power adapter, one-year warranty, user manual and quick start user guide. In addition, NuFace Trinity microcurrent also includes charging cradle.

Warranty. Both devices come with 1 year warranty, and 2-year warranty can be purchased before original warranty expires.

Color. The original NuFace Mini and Trinity come in white color. However, you can come across limited edition colors like silver, black, pink, coral, blue, etc., that are usually available around holidays.

Where to buy? An authentic NuFace facial toning device can be purchased in multiple authorized locations like NuFace.com, Nordstrom, Sephora, Amazon, Dermstore, QVC, Lovelyskin, and few others.

Trinity Facial Trainer Summary

NuFace Mini Vs Trinity Microcurrent: In-Depth Review - Skin Perception (3)

NuFace Trinity is FDA-cleared and award winning microcurrent manufactured by NuFace. Overall, when comparing Nuface Mini vs Trinity, Trinity is a better option for those who want more than just a microcurrent device, as the interchangeable treatment attachments turn this device into a multi-functional and anti-aging one.

For example, NuFace Trinity Facial Trainer attachment (spheres) is the basic one and works great for stimulating larger surface area. NuFace Trinity ELE microcurrent attachment is designed for treating eye, eyebrow and lip areas. All in all, both microcurrent attachments provide visible lifting and toning effect, reduce sagging, and improve facial contour.

However, since microcurrents target facial muscles and not skin’s surface, they are less effective in addressing fine lines and wrinkles. That’s when NuFace Trinity Wrinkle Reducer attachment comes in handy. This LED treatment attachment does not produce a microcurrent, but instead delivers a combination of red, amber and infrared lights that target fine lines and wrinkles.

In addition, NuFace Trinity facial toning device offers 5 levels of intensity and few face-lift cycles, which are accessible through the free app. Overall, if you take into consideration the price of interchangeable accessories, Trinity is on the pricier side of beauty devices, but it delivers promised results, and you won’t need to buy a separate LED device.

In addition to Nuface Mini and Trinity, there is also the newest model of Trinity called NuFace Trinity Pro. This version is more powerful as it delivers stronger current with up to 400 microamps at maximum intensity. Also, NuFace Trinity Pro comes with 2 years of warranty. However, it is not available through the mainstream retailers and can only be purchased through professional skin care specialists.

  • Pros:

Multi-functional, compatible with attachments, 5 intensity levels, charging cradle, shorter charging time, longer shut down time.

  • Cons:

Pricey, requires conductive gel, occasional zapping is possible, some users experienced temporary metallic taste in the mouth (on higher intensity levels).

NuFace Mini Summary

NuFace Mini is also FDA-cleared and just as powerful as Trinity model, but it is smaller in size portable device, and is not compatible with Trinity ELE and Wrinkle Reducer attachments. If you are looking for a good quality, compact microcurrent device without all the bells and whistles and on the budget, then NuFace Mini is an excellent option for you. Not only it is lightweight, and portable, but also it delivers amazing results in lifting, toning, and firming your skin.

Even though it has only 3 levels of intensity (minimum, medium, maximum), the maximum strength of the microcurrent is the same as in Trinity. Another similarities when comparing Nuface Mini vs Trinity are built-in 5-second timer that is helpful in guiding through the treatment, and accessibility to the face-lift videos through the app.

Overall, NuFace Mini facial tool works best for treating neck and face areas with the exception of eye area, which will respond better to the NuFace Fix skincare device that is designed specifically for the eyes.

  • Pros:

More affordable, compact, 3 intensity levels, as powerful as Trinity.

  • Cons:

Not compatible with attachments, longer charging time, requires conductive gel, occasional zapping is possible, some users experienced temporary metallic taste in the mouth (on higher intensity levels).

NuFace Conductive Gel

NuFace Mini Vs Trinity Microcurrent: In-Depth Review - Skin Perception (4)

It is highly recommended to use a conductive gel (or substitute) with any kind of microcurrent device, since it helps to transmit the microcurrent through the skin down to the facial muscles. Without the gel this treatment won’t be effective, since the electric currents will not be able to reach the necessary depth. Also, conductive gel protects the skin from zapping, so it should be applied generously in a mask-like layer.

For your convenience, all NuFace devices come with one complementary 2 fl.oz tube of conductive gel – NuFace Hydrating Gel Primer. This is a leave-on lightweight gel that hydrates and refreshes the skin with hyaluronic acid and phytomoist complex. NuFace Gel Primer comes in three different sizes 2 fl.oz ($14), 5 fl.oz ($29), and 10 fl.oz ($45).

24K Gold NuFace Primer is a more potent anti-aging conductivity gel with a build-in brush. In addition to 24k gold, it is formulated with anti-aging and firming ingredients like peptides, hyaluronic acid, algae, DMAE, alpha lipoic acid and niacinamide. This conductive gel is available only in one size ($39, 2 fl.oz.)

But you don’t have to purchase microcurrent conductive gel from the same manufacturer as your device. If you are not happy with NuFace gels you can switch to a different brand of conductivity gel or use a substitute like aloe vera or silver gel. Overall, a 2 fl.oz. bottle of microcurrent gel will last for about 4-6 weeks if used 3-4 times a week.

Tip: Instead of applying gel to the entire face, apply it section by section on the part of the face you are treating. The goal is to keep gel wet on your skin and prevent it from drying.

Other NuFace Devices

NuFace currently offers five types of microcurrent devices: NuFace Trinity, NuFace Trinity Pro, NuFace Mini, NuFace Fix, and NuBody.

NuFace Fix is a miniature line-smoothing device that uses gentle microcurrent energy to target fine lines around eyes and lips. It comes with Fix Serum, which instantly makes skin firm and smooth due to its potent ionic formula. In a way, NuFace Fix is comparable to Trinity Elle attachment due to its functionality. So if you are considering purchasing Trinity microcurrent device with the attachments, you won’t need NuFace Fix. However, NuFace Fix can be a great addition to NuFace Mini or as stand alone device.

NuBody skin toning device is significantly larger in size and designed in comparison to other NuFace tools. It is designed with four large sphere-looking probes that produce gentle yet powerful microcurrent. Overall, it is great for toning and firming upper arms, buttocks, thighs, and abs, as well as overall body contouring.
